Operation Bees Knees

You may remember Mugsy from last year.

Den Mascot, Mugsy, aka Pup of Destiny was on the move at Zero Dark Thirty this morning rousing a startled GSL out of deep slumber with furious licks and yelps. The initial assumption of Mugsy needing  urgent business matters attended to outside was quickly dismissed upon seeing his spiffy baker's hat with flour smudged about his face and floppy ears. It was quite a sight and as GSL's early morning fog lifted,  remembered that this is Mugsy's favorite day of the year.  Mugsy was eager to get everything just right to make the big day extra special.

Mugsy will again be accompanying me on Army National Guard Annual Training aka 'Summer Camp' that we leave for tomorrow and lasts 2 1/2 weeks.  Mugsy and I will break off from our official unit and conduct highly classified training and preparations for an upcoming mission codenamed Operation Bees Knees.  All of this is very hush-hush so Mum's the Word. We will practice high altitude parachute jumps, master pincer movements, and finalize  PSYOP TTPs.

Hold the fort while we're gone.

Mugsy insists the birthday girl gets first pick.

  1. I wish you a safe, satisfying two weeks at Warrior Camp---you and your comrades-in-arms are some of the strong, stalwart reasons I just slept safe and warm.

And you'll be making those heart-thrilling soars from plane to ground, with the wind whistling in your ears and naught betwixt you and earth but silk and prayers. Just one jump is on my list, along with a balloon flight and a zip-line adventure across the tree-tops---a girl can dream.

You be careful, now, amongst all that loin-girding and smiting hip and thigh, those calculations and sorties and long hours of heat and bugs and boots---you're our lifeline, and I'm thankful for you every day.

    Godspeed and Traveling Grace,

    1. Beautifully said as always dear Rachel. GSL's last parachute jump was nearly 6 years ago as active duty service wound down but this Summer Camp adventure actually does hold promise as we will be conducting training missions with Chinook Helicopters (GSL's fave troop transport/supply helicopter btw) alongside units from UK's Scottish Regiments...Mugsy quite pleased.

  2. Little Mugsy's face is so sweet! I am crazy for dachshunds. They are so funny and smart and fierce. I hope all goes well during training. We will all miss you while you and Mugsy are away! x

    1. Don't let that sweet face fool you Jill. If the FBI had Mugsy do the Hillary email interrogation, she'd confess to everything except kidnapping the Lindbergh baby.

  3. All the best for the training exercise. Mugsy looks like he's been up to something mischievous. That little face has me worried.

    1. CD, Mugsy's no 1 trick pony but a true Renaissance Pup...on cold dark winter nights he has me read him a few chapters of Balzac.

  4. It was brought to our attention that TTPs wasn't google friendly. It stands for: Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures.
    Carry On.
