Carly Fiorina Future US President? |
In a post debate interview, Carly mopped the floor with the famously overbearing Chris Matthews. She's been getting raves from everybody the last few days.
Hillary has big time troubles as the Inspector General has opened an investigation the New York Post describes as criminal into her private email server when Secretary of State. Obama's Justice Department will decide how to proceed. Obama's former CIA Director just plead guilty to sharing classified material with his mistress/biographer so they can't just let her skate. I suspect there are all kinds of maneuverings going on behind the scenes as the Democrats are scrambling for a Plan B. Hillary is absolutely dead meat and now Obama can use this Justice Department investigation as leverage to put his candidate in place. The Obamas and Clintons don't like each other and Dem Operatives are wary to pick a side too soon but it will be a jail break away from the Clintons once it becomes more apparent she's toast. The New York Times is apparently trying to lure Vice President Joe Biden into the race and Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is also mulling a run.
I really don't think it's good for the country to have both Houses of Congress and the Presidency from the same political party but if I had to vote today, my decision would be quite easy.
The Den loves Carly!
Oh to be so naive to think she has a chance...the Koch brothers would never support her. I have been a Republican for thirty years. You know how many times I have received a survey, a mailing, a something from them? Not a single time. Hubs, who has been a Republican as long as I have...every damn year. Sorry, those with the money and the pull only like the white boys. It shall be Clinton vs Bush. Sad.
ReplyDeleteT,
DeleteCarly has a real chance and Trump being such a big spectacle is only helping her look more viable. Republican women will love her once they get to know her better.
I don't see Hillary even making it to the nomination. She's done.
The issue always comes down to the money. Republican women might love her, but the money men will only support a white male for the Republican nomination, you know this. As bitter of a pill it is to swallow, sexism is alive and well with the upper powers in the Republican party. You and I may support her but the "money" never will.
DeleteT,
DeleteConservative/Republican men absolutely LOVED Margaret Thatcher and still get misty eyed when recalling her frail yet stalwart presence at the Reagan burial in the most splendid funereal hat that has ever been devised stepped unsteadily, gathered herself, and gave a deep, respectful, bow in front of the casket in a scene that will likely open future biographies.
Should Hillary get lucky enough to survive this latest legal predicament and make it to the general election, you'll find men falling all over themselves for an opportunity to watch Carly crush Hillary on a debate stage and put the Clinton Political Machine out of our misery.
Carly is twice the man of any of those 15 other candidates!
I have to say I didn't even notice her in the Republican debate. I did watch large parts of it too. It was very curious to me (we have quite a different selection process for our Prime Ministerial candidate), and seemed rather like the Miss USA pageant with the questions, and the candidates evasive answering until they managed to bring it around to a set response they'd pre-prepared that had nothing to do with the original questions…
ReplyDeleteAt any rate I will watch with interest, and from the perspective in Australia we think it is Bush v Clinton again too, and of course Donald has had plenty of air time here - but more of the horror/ spectacle variety.
Heidi,
DeleteCarly wasn't in the same debate with Donald, Bush, et al. With so many candidates, they broke it down into 2 separate debates with the top 10 in polls as of last Thursday going in the 9pm Prime Time debate slot with Carly and the 5 others going at 5pm which very few watched. She had far more air time going earlier and easily outclassed the men. I think it worked out perfectly as she was seen by the informed voters to be very Presidential, whipsmart, accomplished in her own right, and very skillful rhetorically on her feet....in sharp contrast to Hillary whose advisors are so careful to keep the press away from asking unhelpful questions.
Many men I've talked to would absolutely love to have Carly facing off with Hillary in a General Election debate and take her to task face-to-face. I really don't think Hillary will make it that far as the probe into her email server now that it involves the FBI and Justice Department will most likely turn up even more damaging revelations....especially if they can gain access to the 30,000 emails she deleted and wiped server clean while they were being asked for back by State Dept and Congressional Inquiry.
Expect the name Sidney Blumenthal to pop up a good bit again. He's her close confidant who the Obama team banned from getting a job at State yet in vintage Clintonian fashion, he was paid by Clinton Foundation while simultaneously serving as highly paid consultant to oil companies trying to get at the Libyan reserves, while sending her memos at State on how to prop up the Libyans that his oil fat cats had good relationships with. His email missives to Hillary were forwarded (without his name attached) to other State Dept staff.
According to a few emails, Sid Blumenthal was coaching her on how to "own" this Libyan Invasion to prop herself up in the press which now of course has dissolved into a horrible mess with ISIS taking effective control.
Sidney Blumenthal was the one who had a very famous falling out with one of my heroes, Christopher Hitchens, since he testifed under oath during the Monica Lewinsky scandal that he hadn't said anything to the press disparaging about her when in fact he told 'Hitch' she was a "stalker and unstable".
One of the emails shows Blumenthal gloating to Hillary that he had engineered a very damaging piece in the press on Obama National Security Advisor James Jones which hastened his exit a short time later. The Obama camp hated him because of what he tried to plant in the press about Obama during the 2008 Primary.
Trump does bring a certain kind of unseemly spectacle; the Clinton's another.
I'm delighted to see Hilary's server finally picked up. She makes me squirm. I will never forget her saying it doesn't matter, about the deaths in Benghazi.
ReplyDeleteJ,
DeleteSuch a contrast on how this story is being covered. The lefty NYT, bo fan of HRC, but still smarting from their earlier HRC/email missteps, and NPR (anti-Right being their highest priority) make it sound like HRC is the one who wants to get to the bottom of this as if the FBI didn't ask for the server before getting a warrant to subpoenas which would lay out for public view all the suspected illegality. This time bomb keeps ticking away but now the FBI is actually investigating where the State Dept hacks were stonewalling and obfuscating with State Staff angling for HRC Admin posts, cushy Clinton Foundation Jetset Philanthropy Admin gigs to position themselved for future advancement..At least one of the Dem candidates, smelling blood, will call her out in a you can't unring that bell way and the jail break will begin.
i think O'Malley doesn't need to play good boy anymore to keep VP options open and will slay the 'Hildabeast' to use Michelle Obama's and Val Jarrett's fav nickname.
I will probably cry at the ballot box next year but right now the political scene is pure entertainment. Carly, dear GSL? Really? REALLY? Can't see it but would like to see her at least make it into the regular debate, not the also ran debate. I am definitely a swing voter the next time around and so far I don't like anybody on either side. These are our choices? It's beyond sad.
ReplyDeleteJill, over time you'll come to see what a soothsayer GSL is and etch all his pronouncements in stone....Carly for the win and Hillary will be dead meat over what the FBI uncovers.
DeleteI loved her as a business leader so never say never. Our current election in Canada is a three way race among grim, grimmer and grimmest. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI need to follow Canadian politics closer and Carly will be our next President.
