Iron Lady II

The United Kingdom's next Prime Minister Theresa May

As frequent visitors can attest, The Den loves strong, smart women and while we don't yet know much about her, we suspect this Theresa May is going to be a highly competent World Leader.  On this side of the pond, I read reports the Feminist Establishment was quite unhappy at having the top two candidates be women not from the Left.  She looks like a lady of great strength and dignity which is sadly lacking in the two choices we have this November.

GSL will see to it Theresa May is never placed at the "back of the queue" while in America.

Iron Lady
Highly recommend her memoirs (both) and especially the audio versions as she does the narration.

Dignity is very underrated. Remember this ridiculous nonsense? That is David Cameron trying desperately to get his weak chin into this tableau of bad taste... At least Michelle knew the Nelson Mandela funeral wasn't the best time and place for Glossy Posse Selfies.
These two did dignity better than anyone ever has.

Lady Thatcher was a towering presence at the Reagan funeral.

  1. I'm not so sure an Iron Lady II is what today's world with its new challenges needs right now. Mrs. May is going to have to be her own woman and carve out her own legacy whatever that may be.

    1. My Dear CD,
We aren't suggesting Mrs May send a Carrier Group down to the Falklands but the Iron Lady had many qualities that would serve a leader quite well in these trying times.

  2. I too, love strong, smart, competent women. I applaud all women who fit into this category and wish more were in politics.

    1. I agree completely Jennifer Both American Democrats & Republicans have many strong, smart, coompetent women who are also not corrupt and whose political powerbase (like Theresa May and Margaret Thatcher) isn't derivative of their husband who will make great leaders and role models for the next generstion of women leaders.

  3. I hope she isn't too worried about legacy as so many politicians are so aware of - they need to get the job done.

    1. Most of the reading I've done thus far on TM says she's a very serious minded and pragmatic. That bodes well but a big factor will be who she surrounds herself with. Who will be leading Brexit? The powder keg of immigration will only get worse with the next high body-count terrorist attack...if it has ties to Radical Islam as so many of them do these days.

  4. This story makes me laugh so much, mainly because it must drive HRC absolutely CRAZY that this lady has come out of nowhere (at least to these American eyes) to become England's next prime minister. Love it. That 'endorsement' by Bernie yesterday was one of the fakest pieces of politicking I've seen this week and I despise both of our choices this November. Still hoping for a third party candidate. I am looking forward to hearing what Ms. May is able to do for her country in the wake of the Brexit vote and a country that seems in as bad a shape as our own. Thank God Andy Murray won Wimbledon Sunday. I think everyone in the UK (especially Scotland) needed that! xx

    1. I don't think HRC has had the time to get lathered up over this out of nowhere new UK Leader as it normally would. She's had her hands full memorizing all these parsed lawyerly statements that hope to align all her previous obfuscations while dispatching Bubba to secret tarmac meeting to discuss golf/grandkids and then have aids float in the NYT that they'd like to keep AG Lynch on board.
FBI Director Comey's presser was surreal and the first 10 minutes, I was fairly certain of an indictment as he went thru a withering point by point takedown of all her past lies....but with HRC, and only HRC, "exptremely careless" doesn't equal negligence as it would anybody else... and then a couple hours later, she & Obama fun-bunching at a campaign rally where he endorsed her...her only chance is she's running against Trump.
I'm going to be pulling for a Brit to win the British Open and on top of Andy Murray and TM hopefully raise the spirits of our closest ally.
I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel for us.
