HIgh Waist

My buddy ED actually stumbled upon this great find and as her touts are so infrequent, we need
to throw her a bone when she gets one right.

The Den dispatched our Toronto Gal About Town, Jen, and Den Travel Correspondent aka Young Rascal to the Taylor Swift Concert in their hometown last night and have both filed most encouraging reports. Miss Swift shows she is quite a quick study in following every GSL dictate to the letter....at least as it pertains to fashion. She was early to board the High Waist train GSL  brought out of mothballs a few years ago. Even the slow learning Estella has finally eagerly jumped aboard although with a little revisionist history of saying she's been doing high waist for years....afraid not Estella, we suffered through a couple of decades of those awful hip huggers before GSL prevailed upon your senses.

Honor Blackman as 'Pussy Galore' in Goldfinger.

Miss Swift and Cher Lloyd both high waisting.

Here is 'T-Swizzle' from last night's Toronto concert in a duet with Keith Urban. Our Jen reports she was in fine form.

No need to sharpen this pencil.
Take the trailer-trash out of Daisy Dukes by going high-waist.
All shorts look better high waisted.
Yes, being stick thin helps make these pleated trousers work, but work they do,

Estella's fav It Girl of the moment, Kendall Jenner.
Loving this combo; especially the texture.

So much more glam than any itsy bitsy teeny weeny....

High Waist is infinitely more sexy than that thongy g-string garbage.

The High Waist Train is now boarding...Angie Dickinson makes the perfect caboose.

Why the high waist revival? Fashion arbiters are pointing to the re-discovery of this pic..

  1. Thank you for dropping in at Lawn Tea and for the usual lovely comment. You should be here right now---I imagine our weather is much like yours today---bone-chillin' cold and drizzle all day. We have a pot of just-whirred-with-the-immersion blender broccoli soup made with a lovely, buttery bechamel full of Colby Jack, some fat Red Lobster biscuits in the oven, and Chris is this minute bringing in one of his wonderful whole hams from a couple of hours on the grill. Aunt Cilla's grape salad to combat some of that richness.

So THAT explains why my Fashion Gene got left out at birth. And why a Waistline Story is pretty much lost on me. But by YOU---you could write about dryer lint, and I'd line up to read it.

    Stay Warm. Eat Soup.

    rrrrrrrr

  2. I will rethink the high waist. I gave it up a long time ago when some ladies in a jeans shop told me that just because I was a mom didn't mean I had to wear mom jeans. Oh, ouchy ouch ouch. Those young gals can be so mean (can't wait for them to get back to me after THEY have a baby). Love that photo of you, so adorable! And clutching the panda, you are like the American toddler version of the character in 'Brideshead Revisited.' I know you will take that as the compliment it's meant as. xx

    1. My Dear Jill,
You remain such a big baby when it comes to any fashion discussion. With your fab figure, great smile, and fashion sense you should tune everybody else out...except GSL.
I did first feature that pic during my Brideshead post..as you may recall.

  3. High waists are PERFECTION. They always have been even though the fashionistas in recent years pooh-poohed them!

  4. Wrong GSL. Back in 2001 I was begging the young ladies who worked at Uniquities in Chapel Hill for the high waist after only a couple of years of low rise. The high waist suits me to a few aestetically and I bought 3 pairs of dark wash high waisted 1970s styles flares almost 10 yrs ago which i still have anddo wear. It's just you are not around anymore so you wouldn't know.

    1. I could ebay the many unworn garments in your closet for a King's Ransom. Your "low-rise" affliction went far beyond "a couple of years". Of course high waist looks fab on you as you have your IT Girl's same exact figure.

  5. High waists look good on waif-like girls that are not too busty or have womanly hips in my humble opinion. Everyone else should steer clear.

    1. My Dear CD,
Your opinion needn't be humble, only refuted convincingly with the ravishing Honor Blackman now added to this post. I'm kicking myself for having forgotten to include her as this image was the sugarplum vision that inspired this post.

  6. My comments are going into the ether today! Thank you for the shout out. Ms. Swift was quite fetching.

    1. Jen, do you cinch a high waist on that blue hospital smock you tantalized us with awhile back?
