Book Launch Party & Christmas Brunch

The Red Lion Pub's War Room (see post in right margin) prior to party.

The Den has been on the move of late, hence our long absence. Hopefully circumstances will be more favorable and GSL can be the Man About Town correspondant he has always intended by bringing people, ornanizatons, and cultural offerings of high merit to a wider audience.

'Terry Drama', as always, the first to arrive,  insisted on treating GSL to our traditional celebratory cocktail- a very stiff Manhattan, at 4:30....not recommended.

Last Wednesday was my long, long awaited Book Launch Party held in The Red Lion Pub's  'War Room' which wasn't big enough to contain the well-wishers.  Considering, the books had not even arrived, invites were circulated only a week prior in the very middle of the Holiday Party Season, the turnout was astonishing and I am fortunate to have very loyal friends. Unfortunately, we took only a few pics very early in the festivities as receiving guests kept my hands full.

Clockwise from left: Graphics Design Team: Tony & Wes, The Good Doctor,
Mr. DG, and Liz.

Dutch on right, Lynn sitting, and other attendees.

We are off to a good start even if long overdue. Our website is up.

My Dear Auntie J had her annual Christmas Brunch yesterday which I've been attending for over 25 years. We all grumbled about the unseasonably balmy December weather rather than the usual crisp chill that makes Christmas Season festivities feel more special. Nonetheless, Auntie J put out a marvelous spread of nibbles and was her usual charming hostess self. A good time was had by all.

My Dear CD, I can testify that the rest of Auntie J's humble abode is tastefully toned down,
but would your Miss Octavia Pole perhaps arch an eyebrow at her 'Brunch Elf' apron?

  1. What a splendid gathering, and GATHERING PLACE! Oh, the good talk and good friends together for such an occasion---were you not just floating along from group to group? I cannot imagine how that might feel---all that honor and just for you.

All those shelves, and the leather comfy chairs and so many luscious BOOKS! It's like you've found your own version of a perfect ladies-and-gentlemen's club---quite a retreat in these slings and arrows days.

We have three more GRANDS to arrive at any moment, so part of our week will be spent in bookstores, as usual---we'll be Looking for YOUR book, of course.

All my best for a bright, beautiful celebration all through the New Year.

  2. Thank you my Dear Rachel. My book is currently only available at our website, www.nipsytimzy.com, and I know you are eligible for the military/Veteran discount. That code is 'VET1776'. At this late stage in the Christmas Season, we wouldn't be able to get books through distribution channels and into stores ontime. Also, we think word of mouth will be favorable and have a few noted experts in childhood literacy, education, etc. pulling for us. Next year will be interesting.

    1. It has been a lengthy ordeal my dear CD; but I find all the adversity merely reminds me that I'm 'one tough hombre'.

  4. Well done G. I just read through your entire website and ordered your first book for my darling nephew Felix. Really like the theory behind your book and I always found my children curious and up to the challenge of learning a more "difficult" vocabulary.
I'm so looking forward to seeing where you go and you can count on a loyal customer in "Aunt Dani".

    1. Well I know Darling Felix will always have a special place in his heart for his fabulous Aunt Dani. The book also has a glossary with age appropriate definitions (such as 'undaunted': brave, never gives up) along with a sentence that better demonstrates it's meaning.
      Thank you Dani!!!

  8. Congratulations - what an achievement! I really admire you. Love that pub, we don't have anything that old and glorious here and everyone looks so happy and comfortable at your launch party, like they are having a lovely time. I love a good resting drinking chair of an evening.

    1. Franfou is fabulous and is a major Artist in other mediums too. He has pieces on prominent display at the Edmonton Airport and LAX. I spent over 4 years trying to find the right illustrator and Franfou captures each character and scene exactly as I envisioned. He's the perfect collaborator!
So glad you liked Book 1 and I like it as a nice intro to the characters and what the series is about.
Book 2 is when it really starts to take shape.
