2015 Met Gala Honor Roll

Helen Mirren in Dolce & Gabbana

Ivanka Trump in Prabal Gurung.
Kate Hudson in Michael Kors
Emily Blunt in Prada
Thanks to my buddy Trudye for bringing the Ivanka Trump stunner to my attention. Much talk has been made regarding Anna Wintour's frock with most of it negative. Our friend Jill over at Everything Just So already featured the Anna dress and there certainly were a number of train wrecks to gawk at.
But these were the 4 best from the 2015 Met Gala,

  1. I think Ivanka Trump might have had the best look of the night. I did like Alexa Chung's dress, so pretty. Did you see what Jenna Lyons wore? White silk pajamas covered in metal mesh, really terrible. But her makeup and hair were very nice.

    1. Dani,
I loved the colour and pattern of that Alexa Chung dress but not so much how it was cut and how it fit. Just saw the Jenna Lyons get-up; the board at J Crew should have fired her on the red carpet.

    2. They should have fired Jenna Lyons 6 years ago when she forgot the JCrew demographic and nose dived the company.

    3. A cynic may wonder if her slightly ahead of the curve evolving sexual identity may have shielded her from scrutiny when it suddenly became so fashionable to conspiciously proclaim how wonderful she is...

  2. Hi GSL, I like your picks here! I agree with all of them! I did not see Ivanka Trump in any of the papers, this is a show-stopping dress and I like that she completely steered clear of the China theme. I thought some of the China thing was completely overdone and just kind of dumb. Kim K and Beyonce both looked disgusting, and ridiculous, and so very desperate. Ick. I liked Anna's Chanel ensemble, however, it seemed like something she would wear and I thought the color suited her, and of course who doesn't want to wear exquisite Chanel haute couture? Thank you for the mention, that is very kind of you! xx

    1. Jill,
The more I looked at that AW dress the less I liked it; that colour and pattern were gorgeous and so AW but didn't like those shoulder pieces and I agreed with Estella saying she doesn't need to do sleeveless anymore.

    2. ...and as for those others you mention that looked so desperate to make a spectacle; I don't even acknowledge them anymore and try to avoid them although they are everywhere

  3. It's all uninspiring to be honest. I can't seem to link it from Facebook but there was s comparitive picture of last year porn star nominees and the stars on the met ball and dad to say the porn stars were dressed normally and less flesh shown. It's not about fashion anymore but the next day's headlines.

    1. So true Naomi and agree none of these Best in Show frocks are anything we'll remember next year but stand out becausr of the vulgarity nearly everywhere else you turn....I can't imagine how difficult it must be for a hooker to dress for the evening these days...

  4. It's always fun to see how our "royalty" dresses for these occasions. Why do I get the feeling Beyoncé can't stand Kim K, but they dress the same. Did you see Jennifer Lopez's dress? Damn...

    1. I know T and have decided not even to acknowledge their existence ...Dignity is The New Black!

  5. Nice to see some classy outfits. The half-undressed gals simply looked sad and sickeningly desperate. They were trying too hard to "out shock"
and just ended up looking hookerish.

  6. Gorgeous all of them - Helen is my favourite - what a figure and what a face, she has the loveliest pointy chin. All these women look comfortable in what they are wearing and that's what also makes it comfortable for us to see them. I actually like Anna's dress but she looks so hunched up in it, like she's expecting criticism

  7. Those 4 are pretty. So many of the others were trying too hard. Pity that elegance seems to be underrated these days.

    1. FF,
That was as bad a lineup as I've seen and you'd think the Met's Costume Institute would summon everybody's A Game.

  9. All these models look so gorgeous and pretty!! I liked Helen Mirren’s red dress and I am big fan of her. Hey, you didn’t mention here anything about the event planning. Please share some information about this as well.
