Coming Attractions

Francis Albert Sinatra

Very busy week but must acknowledge the 20th Anniversary of Frank Sinatra's last concert. My buddy Dutch and I took two English au pairs to see Frank at the then brand new United Center (home to  Chicago Bulls & Blackhawks) 20 years ago this Friday so will give full account on Thursday and Friday.

Mossy Kade and Estella bottom

The Den's publicity machine is billing The Confessions of Mossy Kade as a Roman a clef and it's launch is right around the corner in serial format as a Den exclusive.

Dani's fabulous Book Club is November 22nd and due to her renovation and move, I am assisting so please join us in an always spirited discussion for Middlemarch one of the greatest works of literature in the English language.

    1. Bebe, we are expecting American Alconleigh to provide saturation coverage of your travels abroad next month. The Paps are already jockeying for position. Don't drive thru any tunnels!

  2. How bizarre, I just (2 minutes ago) purchased a photo print of Frank Sinatra dancing on the walls in the movie "Royal Wedding". It shall hang proudly in the main floor biffy to entertain my guests.
Thank you so much for hosting book club with me GSL, I can barely read at night these days I'm so tired from the packing up. It's such a great book and this time next week I shall practically be a lady of leisure in our rental and I plan to enjoy it then.

    1. I've got to look up that Royal Wedding sequence. Dani, I hope the dust does clear soon and that lady of leisure does get to kick her feet up and revisit Middlemarch.

    2. I'm insane it was Fred Astaire of course. I was just looking at the picture thinking about how I will frame it and I realized I have finally lost my mind. Perhaps the dust has seeped in and done permanent damage.
I do have Frank Sinatra on the mind these days after seeing that photo of Ronan Farrow in Vanity Fair, spitting image he is, body type, posture, everything.

    4. Dani, I do recall that Fred Astaire scene...so you don't think Ronan is the spitting image of that perv Woody?
Wendy, that quartet is huge in my family. Auntie J's fav was Ella and her wedding day began (my mum matron of honor) with my grandfather 'Pete' playing Dino's 'Volare' full blast on the stereo at 6am. My grands Pete & Dodie took my parents to see NKC at the Palmer House when they were first married. Bing's White Christmas was always played during a sentimental moment every Christmas Eve.

    1. Anon, the Den's merchandising staff anticipated this with The Den's Kitten Panty from Den Intimates previewed here back in August.

  9. Sounds very intriguing indeed GSL.... Looking forward to hearing all about your time with old blue eyes. I shall have to skip book club. I tend to read voraciously for a week and a half burning through the books, then nothing for a month or two. Not particularly reliable for a book club member. Maybe next time (although no promises!).

    1. Heidi, the book club is still a month away so if that voracious book-burning itch comes over you then please put Middlemarch in the pile as we'd love to have your keen sensibility add to the always invigorating discussion.
